Mrs. Mabel Wallen of Burton Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 1955, at the home of her sister, Mathilda Rysdahl, at the age of 57 years, ten months and twelve days, after several months illness. She was born July 11, 1897, in Friendship Township, Yellow Medicine County, the daughter of Anders and Marie (Eide) Rysdahl. Mabel was baptized by Rev. O.C. Farseth and confirmed by Rev. O.T. Storaasli at Clarkfield Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota. She received her education at the rural school and graduated from Clarkfield High School with the class of 1914, and in 1915, from the Madison Lutheran Normal School. She taught in the rural schools and vacation Bible school for a number of years. On June 17, 1930, she was united in marriage to Mr. Orville Wallen of Friendship Township by Rev. J.E.H. Akre. To this union two sons, Orville, Jr. and Merlyn were born. These two together with her husband survive her along with one daughter-in-law and two grandchildren, Deborah and Douglas; two brothers, Carl and Lewis Rysdahl; two sisters, Mrs. Alfred Hagren and Mathilda Rysdahl, all of the Clarkfield community; also several nieces and nephews who mourn her departure. She was a member of Israel Lutheran Church and an active member of the ladies aid. Blessed be her memory.
