Mabel Katherine (Olson) Roseth was born to parents Oscar and Anna (Fernstrom) Olson on August 10, 1905 at Bristol SD. At the age of two weeks, she moved with her parents to Holmquist, SD. Mabel graduated from Webster High School on May 26, 1924. Following graduation she worked for a time in the Delica Tea Room in Aberdeen. At the age of 18, she started teaching. She taught at Oak Gulch #198, Gustafson School and spent time teaching in Minnesota. Mabel also worked in Chicago and then returned to the Aberdeen area. Mabel married Roy C. Roseth on June 10, 1928 at Bristol, SD. To this union were born three daughters: Lois, Gwen, and Mavis. In 1972 Roy and Mabel retired and moved to Granite Falls. In December of 1990, they moved to Hill Street Place in Marshall. Mabel has been a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center for the past 4 and 1/2 years. She passed away at the Care Center on Sunday evening, December 15, 1996 at the age of 91 years, 4 months, and 6 days. She is survived by her daughters: Lois (and Lloyd) Amen of Canten. SD, Gwen (and David) Herrick of Sioux Falls, SD and Mavis (and Lowell) Gustafson of Hanley Falls, MN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren, sister Isabel Zoelner, sister-in-law Marcella Roseth, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy in 1991, and five sisters and two brothers. Mabel was very active in her church. She was a member of Granite Falls Lutheran Church. She enjoyed working with the Sunday School, was past President of the Ladies Society, and always was a willing volunteer. She was a loving and kind mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
