Mabel Lorraine (Jorgenson) Miller (April 5, 1923 ~ November 8, 2011) Mabel Lorraine (Jorgenson) Miller was born April 5, 1923, at the family home in Clarkfield in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Marvin and Bessie (Amundson) Jorgenson. She was baptized and confirmed at Clarkfield Lutheran Church where she was a lifetime member of the congregation. She graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1941; following graduation she attended the Minneapolis School of Business, and then worked in Montevideo and Minneapolis. Mabel married Raymond D. Miller on November 4, 1945, at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. They were the parents of two children, Judy and Gene. Mabel and Ray lived on their farm southeast of Clarkfield all their married life. Mabel enjoyed activities with her family, gardening, cooking, baking, and was active in church functions. Mabel started her own successful tax consulting business in Clarkfield which she operated and maintained for over fifty years. Following her retirement, she enjoyed part-time employment with the company who bought her business. In the early 70s Mabel co-owned and operated a variety store in Clarkfield, along with her friend LaVerna Ford. In 1994, Ray and Mabel moved into a house in Clarkfield that Ray had built himself in the early 60s. Ray passed away in 1995. Mabel continued to live in her home until moving to Valhalla Apartments in the summer of 2010. In recent years, Mabel has been a very active supporter of the Clarkfield Area Charter School initiative and has been an active participant in that organization's growth and success. Perhaps one of Mabel's most important contributions to her community was as a financial conservator, as she was a dear friend to many who trusted her to take care of their financial affairs. Through the years, Mabel has enjoyed the friendship and respect of many of Clarkfield's residents. She particularly enjoyed getting together with good friends for bunco, bingo, and pinochle. Her kindness, generosity and love of her community were recognized and appreciated by many. She will indeed be truly missed. Mabel passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, while under the care of Hospice in Luverne, Minnesota, at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 3 days. She is survived by her daughter Judy (Maynard) Koepp of Marshall, Minnesota; son Gene (Lilly) Miller of Luverne, Minnesota; five grandchildren: Gina (Ryan) Johnson, Ryan Koepp, Aaron Miller, Tonya (Jason) Ormberg, Leslie (Andrew) Gordinier; seven great grandchildren: Alec, Hayleigh, Wyatt, Mason, Brittney, Shelby, Carys; and brother Dennis Jorgenson of Clarkfield; and nieces and nephews. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 1995; parents, Marvin and Bessie Jorgenson; brothers: Dale Jorgenson and wife Alice, Glen Jorgenson and wife Edith. Also sister- in-law Beulah Jorgenson; niece Debra (Jorgenson) Miller; niece Hope Jorgenson; and nephew Charles Jorgenson. Blessed be her memory!
