Mabel Mikelson was born December 10, 1886, at Portage, Wisconsin, in the County of Columbia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jertson. The family moved to Hazel Run, Minnesota, where she spent her youth. On May 11, 1911, she was united in marriage to Selmer L. Mikelson. To this union five children were born. The family spent a number of years in the Clarkfield and Hazel Run community and at Cannon Falls, Minnesota, before Selmer and Mabel retired to their Minneapolis home. Mrs. Mikelson was suddenly taken ill on September 5, 1965. She had always been in excellent health. The same evening she was taken to Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, where she passed away on Thursday, September 16, 1965, at the age of 78 years. Her husband preceded her in death in April of 1954. She is survived by two daughters: Eunice (Mrs. Robert McKibben) of Valley City, North Dakota, and Sylvia (Mrs. Keith Textor) of Ardsley, New York; three sons: Lester of Minneapolis, Alvin of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and Sylvan of Orchard Lake, Michigan; 19 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one brother, John Jertson of Roseburg, Oregon.
