Mabel Caroline Hoff was born to Engebret and Bertha (Nielson) Hoff on a farm near Guard Meadow, Minnesota, on May 24, 1893. She was baptized in the Bear Creek Lutheran Church. There she attended Sunday School and was confirmed on April 28, 1907. The same year she came with her parents, brothers and sister to a farm in Yellow Medicine County. She with her family joined the St. Lucas Church of which she was a member at the time of her death. A few years later her parents and Ella moved into Hanley Falls but Mabel stayed on the farm to keep house for her brother Martin. After a few years they also moved to town, where they took care of their parents in their declining years. Her father reached the age of 94, and her mother 97, and passed away at their home. Mabel also cared for her brother Martin during his illness for two years. Mabel passed away May 25, 1976, at the Granite Falls Manor, Granite Falls, Minnesota, at the age of 83 years. She leaves to mourn her death a brother Jesse; a sister Ella; and several nieces and nephews.
