Mabel Christina Shepard was born December 24, 1895, at Clarkfield. She passed away June 28, 1969, at the Montevideo Hospital. Her parents were Jens and Joanna (Wangnes) Hauge. She was baptized by Rev. H. Fjeldstad and confirmed by Rev. John Salhus. On November 8, 1930, she was married to Eugene Shepard of South St. Paul. He was her constant companion in the teaching profession. She was graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis and received her Master's Degree in music at McPhail College in St. Paul. She began her teaching career in South St. Paul where she taught several years. Later, she taught at Scoby and Harlem, Montana. She organized piano classes in various schools and was State Music Chairman at the time she taught in South St. Paul. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Baudette. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, her parents, three sisters and five brothers. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Lund of St. Paul Park and Selma Hauge of Clarkfield; and a number of nieces and nephews. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
