Mabel (Hanson) Skogen was born in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on April 7, 1906, the daughter of Peter and Lorena (Briggs) Hanson. On November 9, 1929, she was united in marriage to John Skogen. The couple lived in the Yellow Medicine and Chippewa County area until John's construction job took them to Minneapolis. They lived there until retiring and moving to Granite Falls about eight years ago. Mabel entered the Granite Falls Hospital on February 15th and was transferred to the University Hospital on February 25th. She passed away March 16th at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 8 days. She is survived by two sisters: Ella Anderson of Hazel Run, and Elva, (Mrs. Clarence) Hoiland of Clarkfield and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband January 8, 1978; her parents; one sister Mary; and five brothers: Olaf, Ancel, Clarence, Walter and Roger.
