Mabel Geneva Olson was born to Hans P. and Siverina (Johnson) Haakenson on October 5, 1895, on a farm in the Boyd Community. On December 20, 1916, she was united in marriage to Anton S. Olson. The two observed their golden wedding in 1966 at the Boyd Village Hall. The union was blessed with three children, Obert and Minnie, and one who preceded her in death in infancy. Mr. Olson passed away in August, 1970. She and Mr. Olson began life together on the farm where she presently resided and where her son, Obert and family also have their home. They lived there all but 13 years, 1920-1933, when they lived in Boyd and operated a garage business. Mabel passed away at the Clarkfield Community Hospital on Thursday, July 13, 1972, at the age of 76 years. She is survived by her son, Obert; and daughter, Minnie (Mrs. Byron Kjos) of Moorhead, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; five sisters and one brother, namely: Selma (Mrs. Daniel Korstad) of Boyd, Julia (Mrs. Dan Danielson) of Starbuck, Minnesota, Dagne (Mrs. Clayton Schultz) of Montevideo, Minnesota, Mrs. Helma Noyes of Montevideo, Minnesota, Mrs. Agnes DeYapp of Ellendale, North Dakota, and Edwin Haakenson of San Diego, Callifornia. She was baptized and confirmed and a life member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd from which her funeral services were held. IN MEMORY OF MABEL G.
