Mabel J. (Cole) Weeks was born on August 19, 1907, on the farm of her parents in Sandnes Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Her parents were Lewis and Hannah (Hagen) Cole. She was baptized and confirmed at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church, Hanley Falls, Minnesota. On March 19, 1935, Mabel was united in marriage to Raymond G. Weeks at the home of her parents near Hanley Falls. Following their marriage they farmed near Wood Lake, Minnesota, and then moved to a farm north of Hanley Falls where they raised their children. In 1952 they moved to Ruthton, Minnesota, where they owned and operated Weeks Cafe. In 1961 they moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota, and purchased the home of Raymond's grandparents and later they moved to an apartment. Raymond died in 1989. Mabel loved the Lord Jesus and showed her faith. She has always been active in her church. She enjoyed Ladies Aid, Circles and Bible Study, quilting, and teaching Sunday School. She was known for her cooking and baking and worked at the Clarkfield Cafe baking and also worked as a nurses aid at the Clarkfield Care Center. On November 30, 2003, Mabel died at the Pipestone Good Samaritan Center, Pipestone, Minnesota, at the age of 96 years, 3 months and 11 days. She is survived by two sons: Lewellyn and his wife Donna of White, South Dakota, Dennis and his wife Marie of Worthington, Minnesota; three daughters, Lavonne and her husband Norval of Stickney, South Dakota, Delores and her husband Clifford of White, South Dakota, and Darlene and her husband J. B. of Holland, Minnesota. Mabel is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Harold Cole of New London, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; eight brothers: Leonard, Marvin, Adolf, Rudolph, Selmer, Palmer, and Ordell; and one sister, Hazel. Blessed be her memory.
