Lyle Christine Westergard was born February 3, 1918, in Chester, South Dakota, to parents Chris and Mary Zeitling Westergard. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Chester. Lyle attended school and graduated from Chester High School. Following graduation she attended Nurses Training at Asbury Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Lyle and Arthur Husby were married on February 10, 1942. She was a member of Bergen Lutheran Church. 'Westy' was a nurse at the Montevideo, Dawson, and Granite Falls Hospitals. She finished her working career at Starbuck, Minnesota. Failing health caused her to move to the Alzheimer's Unit at the Madison Lutheran Home, Madison, Minnesota. Lyle passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at the Madison Lutheran Home at the age of 82 years and 5 months. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur in 1971; brother Richard Westergard and sisters Laura Vogt and Ethel Westre. She is survived by her niece and nephews. Westy was highly respected by all who knew her. She touched many lives as she worked hard in her career. Blessed be her memory.
