IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lyle Cameron
Mikelson
October 14, 1921 – November 21, 1942
What we have once loved, we can never lose. Lyle Cameron Mikelson, son of Arthur and Maybelle (Nelson) Mikelson, was born October 14, 1921, at Hazel Run, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Hazel Run, Minnesota. On November 21, 1942, he was united in marriage to Doris Hanson. To this union four children were born: Ann (Mrs. Garland Lutterman), Robert Lyle who passed away at the age of three, Debra and Deanne living at home, and one grandchild, Paula Ann Lutterman. Lyle served as a member of the U.S. Army Air Force for four years during World War II. After a business venture he entered college in 1949 at St. Cloud State. He received his B.A. degree In 1952. He later received his M.A. degree at the University of Minnesota. He taught school in the public schools in Alberta and Madison, Minnesota, and has been in administration work in the Wood Lake Public School for the past thirteen years. Lyle was an active member of the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church at Hanley Falls and has served on the church council and as congregational president. He was a member of the Wood Lake American Legion Post 556. He served as Commander of the 7th District, and in 1969 was elected State Commander of the Department of the Minnesota American Legion. In his capacity as superintendent of schools in Wood Lake, he served on many educational committees on district and state levels. Mr. Mikelson lost his life about 1:00 a.m., April 5, 1970, as the result of an automobile accident, in Becker County, Minnesota, at the age of 48 years. All that we have loved becomes a part of us. We loved him, respected him and were proud of him. Blessed Be His Name. "If I Could" If I could know when each day dies I had brought joy to tired eyes. If I could know when falls each night I'd helped to make some childs' life bright. If I could know at set of sun The fruit of some good deed I'd done, I'd count my life of grander mold Than if I'd simply gathered gold. IN MEMORY OF Lyle C.
