Lydia Thostenson was born December 16, 1906 in Hanley Falls to Ferdinand Christian and Guro Nelson. She was baptized in Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church on February 8, 1907. She attended Country School in District 50 a few miles west of Hanley Falls. Lydia was confirmed at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church on July 3, 1921. Lydia married Tom Thostenson on December 23, 1923. Tom and Lydia were in the farming business until 1969. They had lived in Hanley Falls since their retirement in 1969. Lydia passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on Thursday evening, February 8, 1996 at the age of 89 years, 1 month, and 24 days. She is survived by sons, Edwin Thostenson of Montevideo, Gaylen (and Wanyce) Thostenson of Mound, daughters, Lillian (and Gerald) Enger of Hanley Falls, and Marlys (and Francis) Scherer of Marshall. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers John and Pete Torgerson, and an infant granddaughter.
