Lydia Bertha Galow was born in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on July 27, 1909. Her parents were William and Augusta (Loose) Lachelt. She was baptized July 30, 1909, by Pastor August Hillger. She renewed her baptismal vow in the solemn rite of confirmation under Pastor Bernhard Luttman in Zion Lutheran Church in Tyro, March 25, 1923. She attended public school in that township. She was united in marriage to Hugo Galow, December 19, 1929, by Rev. Louis Rosin. The couple resided on a farm southwest of Boyd, Minnesota, until the fall of 1952 when they purchased a home in Clarkfield, Minnesota, where she resided until her death. Mrs. Galow's health began to fail about ten years ago. She sought medical aid at various places, but to no avail. Death was caused by cancer. She entered the Clarkfield Community Hospital on February 20, 1957, where she passed peacefully away at the age of 47 years, eight months and eight days. Those who mourn her departure are her husband, Hugo; three sisters and five brothers: William, John, Otto, Clara (Mrs. Edward Werner), Louise (Mrs. Theodore Werth) all of the Boyd community, Louis of Winthrop, Minnesota, Leo of Montevideo, Minnesota, and Olga (Mrs. Harris Ludvigson) of Winner, South Dakota; ten sisters-in-law; seven brothers-in-law; a number of nieces and nephews; two uncles; two aunts; cousins and a host of friends. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death. Though we may mourn, Those in life the dearest, They shall return, Christ, when Thou appearest; Soon shall Thy voice Comfort those now weeping, Bidding rejoice, All in Jesus sleeping.
