Obituary

LuVerne Arthur Grinager, 57, died at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Tuesday, March 3, 1987, after a year long battle with cancer. LuVerne was born in Boyd, Minnesota, to Melvin and Petra (Martinson) Grinager on February 12, 1930. He was sixth in a family of ten children, four brothers and five sisters. He was baptized at Our Savior's Church at Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, and confirmed at Riverside Lutheran Church in Dawson, Minnesota. He was married to Joanne Moe at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo, Minnesota. Following their marriage he served in the U.S. Army for two years including sixteen months in Korea. LuVerne moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota, in 1957 where he owned and operated a gas station for eighteen years and Grinager's Store for five years. He also served as a Yellow Medicine County Commissioner for ten years. He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church and was also active in many community activities including The Civic and Commerce Association, The American Legion, The V.F.W., The Lion's Club, Sons of Norway, and the Yellow Medicine County Agricultural Museum. LuVerne was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Benford, one niece and one nephew.
