Ludvig Peterson was born on March 28, 1897 to parents Peter and Emma (Svenson) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at Swede Home Lutheran Church. Ludvig married Idella Christensen on February 18, 1924. The couple lived and farmed in Swede Prairie township, with 41 of those years on the Peterson family farm. The past 10 years Ludvig has lived at the Clarkfield Care Center. Ludvig's hobby was growing watermelon and cantaloupe, which he loved to share with his friends, relatives, and others. Ludvig passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on Sunday, February 7, 1999 at the age of 101 years, 10 months, and 11 days. He is survived by his five children: Norma (Stan) Shefveland of Ellsworth, WI; Verna (Albert) Plowman of Midlothian, IL; Loren (Marlowe) Peterson of Clarkfield, MN; Bernice (Norman) Fliss of Bellflower, CA; and Diana (Jerry) Carlson of Cambridge, MN. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and three sisters-in law. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Idella in 1989; all 13 brothers and sisters: Axel, Bettie, Oscar, Esther, Anna, Edith, Alfred, Emma, Hulda, Amalie, Fredolph, Ethel, and Winfred and two grandchildren.
