IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lucille Theoline
(Mikelson) Nelson
January 31, 1917 – March 19, 2012
Lucille T. Nelson January 31, 1917 ~ March 19, 2012 Lucille Theoline (Mikelson) Nelson was born January 31, 1917, in Clarkfield, Minnesota, to Annette (Nettie Wilson) and Emil Mikelson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Clarkfield Lutheran Church and graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1935. She attended the Calhoun Secretarial College in Minneapolis and later was employed at the Yellow Medicine County Welfare Office in Granite Falls. She remained there until her marriage to Lloyd Nelson on November 25, 1944. After Lloyd's discharge from the service in 1945, they made their home in Minneapolis where their son, Richard Lloyd, was born on June 24, 1946. They later made their home in Montevideo, Minnesota, where she was employed as Secretary-Cashier at the Associates Financial Services Co. When they moved back to Minneapolis in 1967, she transferred to the same company until her retirement. After retirement they built a home on Lake Inguadona near Remer, Minnesota. Due to Lloyd's failing health, they sold their lake home in 1985 and moved to Alexandria, Minnesota, and then to Clarkfield in 1998. While living in Alexandria, Lucille enjoyed volunteering at the Douglas County Hospital and in Clarkfield volunteered at the Care Center. She belonged to a circle at Clarkfield Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilting. She was a member of the Clarkfield American Legion Auxiliary. She kept active with her scrap books--never wanting to throw away anything of good reading material. Lucille passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012, at her residence at the age of 95 years. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Richard and Marlys Nelson, Derby, Kansas, and grandchildren: Peter and Jennifer Nelson, Spring Hill, Kansas, Christine Nelson, Winfield, Kansas, and Sarah Nelson, Wichita, Kansas; great-grandchildren Kaleb, Kristian and Kassidy Nelson, Spring Hill, Kansas; brother, Harris and Pat Mikelson, Mesa, Arizona; sister, Ruth and Harry Ziemann, Hudson, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law: Lorinne Mikelson, Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Dora Hanson, Remer, Minnesota, Diana Hanson, Clarkfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother, Richard, and sisters: Muriel, Evelyn and Dorothy. Blessed be her memory. In Loving Memory of Lucille T.
