Louis Coubal March 5th, 1947 - August 26th, 2016 Louis Coubal died August 26, 2016, at his home in Clarkfield at the age of 69. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo. The Celebrant will be Fr. Paul Timmermann and interment will be in the Clarkfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield and at the church for one hour before services on Thursday. Louis Joseph "Louie" Coubal was born March 5, 1947, at Redwood Falls, Minnesota, the son of Joseph and Ernestine (Daun) Coubal. He was baptized at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. At the age of eight months he was diagnosed with Polio and spent several months in the Sister Kenny Institute in Minneapolis . He moved with his family to Hazel Run in 1952 where he attended grade school. He was confirmed at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Clarkfield and in 1965 he graduated from Clarkfield High School. In high school he played football and track. He tried wrestling but thought his brother Mike was better than him. Louie worked for Leenerts Tiling, AMPI, Jennie-O and his last employment was a security guard at Prairies Edge Casino in Granite Falls. Louie's all-time favorite was his love of sports. He was an avid sports fan of the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Gophers. He was very active in the Clarkfield community as a manager of the Clarkfield Merchants softball team. He was also involved in summer rec and umpired numerous softball games in all leagues. He loved all of his nieces and nephews supporting them in everything they did especially their sports. He also enjoyed playing cards but hated to lose. He always looked forward to the annual Coubal family reunion at Haroldwood as he would be the organizer of the beanbag tournaments. Family was so important to him! Louie met the love of his life, Donna (Nelson) Vorvick and they were married on February 11, 1989, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Donna had five children. He gained another whole family he loved as his own. He was a very loving stepdad and grandpa. Louie and Donna enjoyed traveling, going to sporting events and spending time with all the family. He is survived by his step-children: Lori Johnson of New Hope, Kris (Tom ) Warner of Montevideo, Rick (Sarah) Vorvick of Sioux Falls, SD and Kathy (Tom) Cudahy of Arden Hills; 16 step- grandchildren; 14 step-great grandchildren; his step-mother, Dorothy Coubal of Graceville, MN; siblings: Barbara (Harold) Larson of Clarkfield, Mary Jo Haugerud of Montevideo, Gerry (Kenny) Leenerts of Clarkfield, Bonnie (Mike) McCarthy of Stacy, MN, Debbie (Dave) Hedin of Maynard, and Joey (Elaine) Coubal of Clarkfield; eight nieces, nine nephews, 34 great and 18 great-great nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Donna, September 29, 2010; step-son, Tim Vorvick; great-grandson, Lucas Vorvick; an infant sister, Cynthia; a brother, Michael; brother-in-law, Glen Haugerud; a nephew, Joseph Leenerts and a great-niece Eden Hedin.
