Obituary

Lornetta "Nettie" Helen Buchholz was born in Raymond, Minnesota, on September 9, 1921. She was the youngest of nine children born to William and Bertha (Schmitt) Buchholz. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Raymond. She attended school in the Raymond area. On September 8, 1942, she married Harvey L. Quenemoen. They moved to the farm north of Boyd, Minnesota, where they farmed until retirement. To friends and family she was always know as "Nettie". Nettie enjoyed farm life, taking care of their home and family. There was always a pot of coffee and fresh baked goods for anyone stopping by. In 1958 Nettie started her 40 years of selling Avon Products. This fulfilled her enjoyment of socializing. She also involved herself with many Boyd Community and church projects. She enjoyed many years singing with the Trinity Lutheran Church Choir. She was also known in the community for making the best lefse around. She took orders and also made many packages to be sold at the local grocery stores. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and later great grandchildren. Nettie passed away on Friday, March 6, 2009, at Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson, Minnesota, at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 25 days. She is survived by her two children: Lois (Richard) Moen of Anoka, Minnesota, and Carol Nelson (Neil Olson) of Benson, Minnesota. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Kimberli (Thomas) Kuhlmann of Boyd, Richard (Pamela) Moen of Cedar, Minnesota, Corey (Lisa) Nelson of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Kyle (Stacy) Nelson of Hastings, Minnesota; and seven great grandchildren: Mariah and Katarina Kuhlmann, Shauney and Andrew Moen, Braden Nelson, and Morgan and Evan Nelson; sister, Esther Bourne of Montevideo, Minnnesota, and many nieces and nephews.
