Ericksen
May 15, 1918 – July 21, 1990
Loren Edward Ericksen was born on May 15, 1918, in Barronette, Wisconsin, to Magnus and Ida (Berg) Ericksen where his father was a Lutheran pastor. He was baptized there. The family moved then to Menominee, Michigan, to Wallace, South Dakota, where he was confirmed and then to a parish in Hendricks, Minnesota, where Loren graduated from high school. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Augsburg College and worked on a master of arts degree at the University of Minnesota. Loren married Edna Kastner at Lamberton, Minnesota on October 25, 1943. After teaching in Cottonwood High School from 1946 to 1952 he operated Ericksen Furniture from 1953 to 1982 when he retired. He also owned a variety store and hardware store during those years. Loren died on Saturday, July 21, 1990, while visiting relatives at New Glarus, Wisconsin. He was a charter member of the Cottonwood Lions Club and was for several years the mayor of Cottonwood, Minnesota. Fishing, the design and construction of stained glass items, and photography were hobbies and he had a lifelong interest in music. Travel in this country and Europe was a special joy. Loren is survived by his wife, Edna; his mother, Ida Ericksen of Hendricks, Minnesota; Kent and Jackie Lokkesmoe and children Kyle and Kelly of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a niece, Bette Jo Denmat of Hollywood, Florida; two nephews, John and Eric Krobel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; numerous relatives from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Canada and a host of friends. Loren was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Magnus Ericksen, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Krobel.
