Lola Harriet Olson was born April 19, 1915, to parents Christian A. and Ellen (Youngmark) Olson. She was born in Clarkfield, Minnesota and was baptized and confirmed in the Augustana Church. Harriet graduated from the Clarkfield High School with the class of 1933. Following graduation, Harriet took a course in accounting. Her first job was as a waitress at Iverson's Restaurant for one year. She then began employment as a bookkeeper at the Clarkfield Creamery and remained at this work until she retired from AMPI in 1982. Harriet was a life-long member of the Augustana Church, where at one time she was a member of the choir, and participated in Circles. She belonged to the Eastern Star Lodge. Clarkfield remained Harriet's home until 1991 when she moved to Stillwater to be closer to family. Her heart, however, remained with the Clarkfield community. Family and friends were important to Harriet. She loved to laugh and to recall happy and humorous times. Harriet passed away on Thursday, June 19, 1996 at the United Hospital in St. Paul, MN at the age of 81 years and 2 months. She will be missed by many. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Herbert and Elmer Olson, and sister Mae (Olson) Christensen. She is survived by nieces Lois (and Bob) Andrews, Nordis (and Roger) Schrankler, Gayle (and Sarge) Bupara and nephews Herbert (and Marilyn) Olson, Roderick (and Connie) Olson, and Dell (and Fran) Olson and their families, plus many cousins.
