Obituary

Lois Irene Oraas was born December 30, 1913, the fourth child in the family of eight children of Armel and Martha Agnes (Long) Rodgers. Her birthplace was Berry County, Missouri, in the community of Purdy, where she received her formal education and where she resided until 1932. In 1932 she was united in marriage to William Harper and she resided at Pitcher, Oklahoma, until 1946. One daughter, Billy Louise, was born to this union. However, Billy lost her father at an early age, due to a heart condition. In 1946, Lois moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon, shere she resided until 1961. At that point her mother resided with her a number of years. On November 6, 1962, she was united in marriage to T.V. Oraas at Brainerd, Minnesota, and then on May 10, the following spring, the couple came to Clarkfield, Minnesota, where they made their home on his farm south of Clarkfield. Her health was failing and on October 2, 1963, she submitted to surgery at the University Hospital in Minneapolis. Her pleasant disposition and fortitude kept her up and about making life pleasant for those nearest her. On November 24, 1963, he re-entered the Clarkfield Hospital and was a patient there for 20 days. In the meantime, her mother came from Purdy, Missouri, to share the time with her and Mr. Oraas, and she also had visits from her daughter and her sister, Esther. She re-entered the hospital Monday, January 27, 1964, where she departed this life on Friday, January 31, 1964, at the age of 50 years. Her father, and infant brother and one sister, Erma, preceded her in death. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, her mother, her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Marrom of Anaheim, California; four grandchildren: Martha, Norman, Nancy and Machelle; two sisters: Esther (Mrs. Jesse Frietas) of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and Mrs. Lela Tillerson of Columbus, Kansas; three brothers: Claud and Marvin of Klamath Falls, Oregon and Melvin Rodgers of Redding, California.
