Lloyd Calvin Westre was born to the parents, Lars and Cecelia (Lund) Westre, on June 7, 1905, at Thor, Iowa, in Humboldt County. He was baptized in the Ullensvang Church on July 2, 1905, by Rev. Sovde. The family moved from Iowa to Tyro Township, west of Clarkfield. On May 9, 1920, Lloyd was confirmed in the Clarkfield Lutheran Church by Pastor Storaasli. He attended school in District 85 and Clarkfield Public School. He grew to manhood at the farm home and helped keep the home for his parents as long as they lived. On January 11, 1948, he was united in marriage to Ethel Westergard of Chester, South Dakota, by Rev. J.E.H. Akre at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Three sons were born: Lane Christian, Chris Marshall and Dean Charles. Lloyd apparently enjoyed good health until several weeks ago. On May 2, 1968, he submitted to surgery at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar and unexpectedly departed this life on May 4, 1968, at the age of 62. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, one who died in infancy, and Oscar; and one sister, Charlotte. Surviving are his wife, Ethel; three sons; brothers, Eugene of Minneapolis, and Walter of Clarkfield; and sisters, Gladys (Mrs. Arden Jurgenson) and Mrs. Elise Husby, both of Clarkfield, as well as nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Lloyd was a lifelong member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church. He loved to sing and was a member of the Hauge Male Chorus for many years. IN MEMORY OF LLOYD C.
