Lloyd F. Koestner was born on August 1, 1900, in Illinois to Charles and Elizabeth (Lund) Koestner. He was baptized and confirmed at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota. He attended country school in Clarkfield and enjoyed participating in band. Lloyd entered the Army during WWII and later returned to spend his life as a carpenter and masonry worker in the Clarkfield area. He was an active member of the Clarkfield American Legion and was also a member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church where he was active in the Men's Chorus and ushering. Reading and music were his special interests. Lloyd, 89, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 1989, at the Granite Falls Manor, Granite Falls, Minnesota, where he had been a resident since 1980. Surviving Lloyd are his two brothers, Clifford of Granite Falls and Howard of Webster City, Iowa, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister.
