Linda Kathryn (Benson) Korstad May 5, 1919 ~ July 1, 2013 Linda Kathryn Benson Korstad was born on May 5, 1919, in Stony Run Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Thomas O. and Bertina (Eide) Benson. She was baptized July 6, 1919, at Bergen Lutheran Church and later confirmed at Bergen Lutheran. She graduated from Montevideo High School and then attended Windom College in Montevideo and St. Cloud Teachers College. Prior to her marriage she was a school teacher. Linda married A. Hilman Korstad on December 31, 1941, at Bergen Lutheran Church. They were the parents of son, Michael; daughter, Janell; and two children who passed away at infancy. Hilman and Linda farmed their entire married life. She loved flower gardening, needlework and sewing. She was active in the church ELCW. Linda was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd. She passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 26 days. She is survived by her children: Michael of rural Boyd and Janell White of Florence, Wisconsin. She is also survived by grandchildren, Carmen (Travis) Jones and Sherry Smith; five great grandchildren; brother, Thoralf Benson; sister, Ruth Laemmle; sister-in-law, Blanche Benson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hilman in 2012; two children; sisters: Esther Dahlgren, Corella Rasmussen, Thelma Berg, Minnie Johnson, Ellen Weigt (twin); brothers: Harold, Eldor, Oliver, Theodore (in infancy); and son-in-law, Jerry White.
