IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lillian Elizabeth
(Eischens) Sanow
April 30, 1926 – November 23, 2008
Another beautiful lady of this generation has received her eternal reward. Lillian Elizabeth (Eischens) Sanow was born on April 30, 1926, to J.M. and Lena Eischens at St. Leo, Minnesota. Our mother and Sylvester's beautiful wife, Lillian Sanow, died peacefully in the company of her loving family on Sunday, November 23, 2008, at 4:20 a.m. We all miss her, but we know she is in a much better place. We know that her parents and family in heaven met her at the pearly gates, and they will be enjoying a polka or two. In 1993, Lillian was first diagnosed with memory problems, and the last several years her loving husband, Sylvester, was her primary caregiver. On May 19, 2008, she was admitted to the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall, Minnesota. We truly appreciate all that the Hospice Staff did for our courageous mother and our loving father during this difficult journey. With that we would like to honor the most special person in our lives, Lillian Elizabeth Sanow. Lillian faced a long and courageous battle with Alzheimers disease. Lillian was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She was an individual who was very passionate and caring. She was a hard worker, always kind and helpful, and the best cook in the world. She was known for her "Ma Sanow" dill pickles, her potato salad, and her pineapple fluff. She had an incredible love for God, and she faithfully prayed her rosary daily. She was the most beautiful woman inside and out, and will be greatly missed by all of us. After graduating from 8th grade, she attended the Northwestern College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and became an LPN. She worked in Tracy, Minnesota, as a nurse where she met her husband Sylvester. They attended many dances and were married on October 26, 1949. They recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Lillian worked in Canby, Minnesota, as a nurse until their first son was born, at which time she stayed home to be a loving mother and wife. Lillian and Sylvester raised eight beautiful children. Lillian leaves behind her loving husband, Sylvester; her eight children, Allen (Myia) of Wenatchee, Washington, Michael (Cindy) of Minneota, Minnesota, Teresa (Don) Gorecki of Taunton, Minnesota, Mary (Greg) Haugen of Minneota, Minnesota, Jane (Andy) Schmitt of Boyd, Minnesota, Ann (Mike) Longtin of Taunton, Minnesota, Mark (Beth) of St. Leo, Minnesota, John (Rebecca) of Omaha, Nebraska; as well as 20 grandchildren with number 21 on the way; and 11 great grandchildren. Lillian is also survived by her siblings Mervin (Velma) of St. Leo, Minnesota, Silvie (Marcella) of Pipestone, Minnesota, Genevieve Jelen of Canby, Minnesota, and Magdalene Kapolizynski of Arizona. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents J.M. and Lena Eischens; her siblings: Joseph, Clarence, Herman, Susanne, Josephine, Florence, and Bernice; as well as her great grandson Zachary DeSmet. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall or the St. Leo Church in honor of our beautiful mother. Blessed be the memory of Lillian. Mom, may you rest in peace-we will love you forever!
