Lewis Erie was born in Adams, Mower County, Minnesota, on December 1, 1880. He was the son of Ole and Martha (Johnson) Erie. He was baptized and confirmed in the Little Cedar Church in Adams. As a young man he moved with his widowed mother, brothers and sisters to a farm 12 miles southwest of Clarkfield, Minnesota, where he resided until the last few years when he moved to Foreston, Minnesota. He passed away at the hospital in Princeton, Minnesota, in the forenoon of Wednesday, June 24, 1959, from a heart attack. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Severin, John and Peter and by his sister, Sina. He leaves to mourn his death, four sisters and three brothers, namely Mrs. Lewis Pederson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mrs. Henry Pederson of Columbus, Wisconsin, Mrs. Edward L. Nelson of St. Paul, Minnesota, Mrs. Elmer Silver of Marshall, Minnesota, Alfred of Kensington, Minnesota, Oscar of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Martin of Clarkfield, Minnesota, and a large number of nieces and nephews.
