Leslie Eugene Gaasvig was born on May 30, 1906, in Sacred Heart, Minnesota, to parents Jens and Mabel (Peterson) Gaasvig. He spent much of his early years in Minneapolis. He was united in marriage with Gladys Alsop and to this union was born one son, George. Les served his country in defense work during World War II. In 1977 he purchased the Hazel Run Cafe. Les died Sunday, March 9, 1980, at his home in Hazel Run, at the age of 73 years. He is survived by his son, George, of Bemidji, Minnesota; two grandchildren; and one brother, Glenn, of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, and his parents.
