Leroy Galen Jolstad May 28, 1949 - August 25, 2013 Services for Leroy, 64, of Marshall will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 30th at St. Lucas Lutheran Church of Cottonwood. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Thursday, August 29th with a prayer service at 7:30 pm. An additional visitation will take place one hour before the service on Friday. Leroy lost his 3yr battle with cancer August 25, 2013 surrounded by his family. Leroy was born May 28, 1949 to Gordon and Eldora (Kompelien) Jolstad in Clarkfield, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church in rural Cottonwood. He graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1967 and attended St. Cloud State before graduating from Brown Institute in Minneapolis, MN. His last occupation was a warehouseman/truck driver for Material Distributors Inc. of Marshall. On November 18, 1989 he married Cindy (Abel/VanOverbeke) and became a step-father to Cody and Cassie VanOverbeke, then welcomed daughters Lisa in 1990 and Lori in 1993. Leroy was an avid and well known fast pitch softball pitcher. His career spanned 50 years with over 20 years as a member of the Happy Chef softball team from Mankato, MN. He continued with a team from Memphis, TN where he won numerous senior national championships. In 2008, Leroy was inducted into the Minnesota Softball Hall of Fame. Leroy and Cindy enjoyed dancing and Elvis Presley music, traveling to Graceland for "Elvis Week" every August for the last 19 years. Leroy is survived by his wife Cindy; four children Cody (Jessica) VanOverbeke, Cassie (Arthur) Thares, Lisa and Lori Jolstad; four grandchildren, Phinley, Jaeda, Brian, and Piper; his brother Richard (Marge) Jolstad; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew (Troy Quail) and sister-in-law Barb Abel. In Loving Memory of Leroy G.
