Leonard Ludwig Eggen was born at Adair, Iowa, on October 16, 1915, to parents Albert and Minnie (Schlee) Eggen. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church of Boyd, Minnesota. Leonard married Rose (Loose) on February 22, 1942. They made their home in the Boyd and Clarkfield areas, where he enjoyed farming and the outdoors throughout his life. Leonard and Rose were "Winter Texans" for 22 years and both enjoyed the many friends, activities, and dances they encountered through their travels. Leonard's love of family, friends, and neighbors (Charlie and Howard) were a constant joy to him. Leonard passed away suddenly at his farm on Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 13 days. He was working the soil of his garden. He is survived by his son, Ronald (and wife Shirley) Eggen of Brookings, South Dakota, and daughter, Bonnie (and husband Don) of West Cambridge, Minnesota; and grandchildren: Todd, Rachelle, and Jade West, Robin McGreevy, Ryan Eggen, and great granddaughter, Maggie McGreevy. He is also survived by his brother, Wayne (and Marion) Rogge and sister, Lucille (and Phil) Elmquist. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rose in 1996, daughter, Kathryn, and sister, Doris Fjerkenstad. He will be missed by many. Blessed be his memory.
