Leonard William Beecher was born June 21, 1926 to parents Herbert August Beecher and Jennie Mathilda (Carlson) Beecher. He was born at Canby, Minnesota. He attended Country School and in 1945 he entered the United States Army and served until his discharge at Fort Sheridan, Illinois in November 1946. While in the service he received Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, and Army of Occupation Medal. Upon returning he came back to the Canby, Minnesota area and stayed there until the family moved to the Clarkfield area in 1960. He was a member of the Canby VFW. Leonard passed away on Thursday, April 20, 1995 at the Ramsey Medical Center in St. Paul at the age of 68 years and 9 months and 30 days. He is survived by sisters: Lorraine Appleseth of Blaine, Minnesota; Harriet Oman of Hollywood, California; Doris Anderson of Watertown, South Dakota; and Janice Beecher of Clarkfield, Minnesota; and brothers: Virgil of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Floyd of Fergus Falls, Minnesota and Roger of Rush City, Minnesota, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Jennie, and one brother, Arnold. Blessed be his memory.
