Leona Nehring was born in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on April 23, 1911, the daughter of William and Louise (Kammeyer) Kelm. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended schools in the same township being a lifetime resident of the community. On February 5, 1929, she was united in marriage to Leonard Nehring. To this union two children were born, Myron of Boyd, Minnesota, and LaVonn (Mrs. Bob Alleckson) of Minneota, Minnesota. Beside her husband and two children, she is survived by four grandchildren, one sister, Edna (Mrs. Alfred Oien) of Boyd; two brothers: Albert Kelm of Ivanhoe, Minnesota, and Elmer Kelm of Olivia, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: William Kelm, Jr. and Arnold Kelm.
