Leona Francis (Knutson) Anderson was born October 21, 1918, in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Carl and Nellie (Olson) Knutson. She was baptized and confirmed at Swede Home Lutheran Church, where she was a member her entire life. Leona and Clifford E. Anderson were united in marriage on October 30, 1937, at the home of her parents. This marriage was blessed with two children: Carol Faye and Charles. Clifford and Leona farmed in Swede Prairie Township until they moved to Montevideo, Minnesota, in the early 1980s. Leona loved to garden, both vegetable and flower, and was an avid baker. Leona entered the Appleton Nursing Home, Appleton, Minnesota, on March 29, 1996, where she passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2003, at the age of 84 years, 2 months, and 11 days. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Faye Sandbakken of Montevideo; four grandchildren: Connie Ferrin, David Sandbakken, Diane Norby and Benjamin Helgesoti; and six great grandchildren: Russell, Michael, Michelle, Chad, Monica, and Magge. She is also survived by sisters Gladys Oakland and Alice Christiansen and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford, son Charles, and brothers Wallace and Marvin Knutson. Blessed be her memory.
