Obituary

Leon LaVerne Roder was born on August 7, 1941 to Leonard and Alice (Tulowetzke) Roder in Milbank, SD. He attended Montevideo School and graduated from St. Cloud School of Bricklaying in 1965. He married Linda Olson on August 6, 1965 at Watertown, SD. He worked as a bricklayer with several different construction companies around the state. He worked until his health failed in 1989. In 1993 Leon got his second chance at life with a lung transplant. He enjoyed his second chance in so many ways, woodworking, drinking coffee, and spending time with his grandchildren. Leon passed away on Monday, March 1 at the Fairview University Hospital at the age of 57 years, 6 months, and 23 days. He is survived by his wife Linda of Clarkfield and sons: Deon (and Debbie) of Hutchinson, MN; Gary (and Annette) of Clarkfield, and daughters: Michelle (and Jason) Weidenbach of Loveland, CO; and Shellie (and Jeremy) Abrego of Worthington, MN. He is also survived by his mother, Alice Roder of Montevideo and five brothers, one sister, mother-in-law Gert Olson and nine grandchildren, and his very special buddy, 'Bear'. Leon was preceded in death by his father, a brother, and his father-in-law. Blessed be his memory.
