Obituary

Leo Evald Richard Galow was born on May 21, 1886, in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Gustoph and Emilia (Reich) Galow. He was baptized June 3, 1886, by Rev. Christoph Boettcher of St. John's Lutheran Church in Omro Township and confirmed in 1900 by Rev. E.G. Fritz in the same church. Prior to his marriage, he worked in various occupations, in Minnesota, North and South Dakota and Montana. On June 17, 1936, he was joined in holy wedlock with Lydia Huetter at Milbank, South Dakota, by Rev. F. Wessler, pastor of the Ev. Lutheran Church at Milbank. They made their home on a farm in Omro Township. Four years after his wife's death, he moved to Boyd and made his home there until the time of his departure. Mr. Galow was in poor health for the past year and on January 19, 1958, he became worse and was taken to the hospital where he passed away on the eve of January 20, 1958. His parents, Gustoph Galow and Emilia Reich also preceded him in death. He is survived by two brothers and four sisters, namely, Reinhold Galow of Correll, Minnesota, Otto Galow of Minneapolis, Ida (Mrs. Reinhold Steinke) of Verndale, Minnesota, Mrs. Olga Miersch of Bemidji, Minnesota, Mrs. Helena Gaulke of Appleton, Minnesota, Hulda (Mrs. Julius Reinke) of Appleton, Minnesota; three step-granddaughters: Ruth (Mrs. Robert Johnson) of Minneapolis, Sylvianna (Mrs. Edson Moffitt) of St. Paul, and Mrs. Bernice Lehmann of Boyd, Minnesota; also seven step-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
