In Loving Memory of LEO HARDINE OLSON (September 3, 1924 ~ October 24, 2010) Leo H. Olson was born in Hazel Run, Minnesota, to parents Clarence and Laura Olson on September 3, 1924. He was also baptized and confirmed in Hazel Run. After graduating from high school, Leo joined the Army Air Corps where he saw combat during WWII. After his discharge, Leo married Gloria Feist in February of 1948 in Clear Lake, South Dakota. Leo and Gloria were lifelong residents in the Clarkfield and Hazel Run areas. Leo worked at AMPI as chief engineer and head of maintenance. Throughout his life Leo was very active within the community as a member of the ambulance squad, fire department, police department, city council, EDA and the Hazel Run Legion. Leo was a proud WWII combat veteran, who also enjoyed golfing, fishing, toy making, gardening and horses. Leo also treasured spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandson and "Chandler" the cat. Leo passed away on Sunday, October 24th in Dawson, Minnesota. He was 86 years old. Leo is survived by his daughter Ginger (and Peter) Thomsen and foster son Harold Kruckman; son- in-law Gary Hofmann; daughter-in-law Jody Larson; eight grandchildren: Jessica Aamot, Duke Olson, Manda (and Paul) Sandstrom, Joey Olson, Grete Thomsen, Josie (and Tony) Laleman, Zachary Olson and Heidi Burnett; great grandson Max Sandstrom; also "Chandler" the cat. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Lorraine; wife Gloria; children: Wendy Hofmann and Gary Olson.
