Lenora Knutson Olson (known as Lenore in her adult life) was born on July 15, 1899, in Swede Forest Township, Redwood County, Minnesota, to early pioneers, Kolbent and Berte Gimmestad Knutson. She was baptized October 22, 1899, by the Rev. Johannes Bergh and confirmed May 3, 1914, by the Rev. M. G. Mommsen, both at Rock Dell Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Belview, Minnesota. She died August 14, 1992, at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 93 years and 30 days. Lenore graduated from Belview High School in 1918 and entered Mankato Teachers College. She taught school for several years in District No. 3, Lyon County, and District No. 29, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. On September 6, 1924, she was united in marriage with Arnold C. A. Olson at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, with Rev. A. O. Aasen officiating. Arnold and Lenore spent the first twenty years of their married life farming in Tyro Township. After spending three years in Mankato and Onamia, Minnesota, they moved to Clarkfield in 1947, where Lenore resided until she moved to the Clarkfield Care Center in June, 1990. Up until her illness, she was active in her church, Study Club, Clarkfield American Legion Auxiliary, Nordfjord Lag, Hospital Auxiliary, and Clarkfield Senior Citizens. She is survived by her children, Beatta and her husband Roland Swanson of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, John Olson and his wife Cathryn of Clarkfield, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Robert Swanson and his wife Lori, Jeffrey Olson, James Swanson, Patricia (Olson) Lauver and ner husband Steven, John Olson, Jr., and Stephanie Olson; two great grandchildren Casey Marie Lauver, and Daniel Steven Lauver; three sisters-in-law, Edna Johnson of Clarkfield, Cecelia Anderson of Litchfield, and Eleanor Splinter of Mankato, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers, and nine sisters.
