Obituary

Mrs. Lena Vien Kise was born September 13, 1895, of the parents Martinus Vien and Eline (Jolstad) Vien of Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She passed away July 21, 1959, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital at the age of 63 years, ten months and eight days. She was married to Alex Kise on December 10, 1919. Ever since then she and her husband have operated the Normania Store. She was a lifelong member of the Saint Lucas congregation. She was baptized by Rev. Martin Romstad and confirmed by Rev. T.H. Haugen. She was a member and sang in the church choir several years. She was an active member of the Women's Missionary Federation and served as secretary. This past May, she was honored by the membership and received a life membership in the association. She was proud to receive the pin although she was not well enough to be present. Mrs. Kise has been ill for the past two years. March 13, she submitted to surgery, but the sad report was that she was suffering with cancer. She was able, however, to be home three months where her husband lovingly cared for her. When medical care was needed, she entered the Clarkfield Hospital under the wonderful care of Dr. M.A. Borgerson and nurses. She passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, July 21, 1959. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Alex; one sister, Alvina, of Normania Township; three brothers: John of Montevideo, Minnesota, Andrew of Normania Township, and Roy of Cottonwood; several nieces and nephews; and many other friends. Her parents, four sisters and seven brothers preceded her in death. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
