Lena Johnson was born at Lisbon, Illinois, to Lars and Ingeborg (Sand) Nelson on October 16, 1884. She was orphaned at the age of six and lived with with various families for some years. She was later adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Peter Dahl of Peoria, Illinois, who had no family. On March 18, 1908, she was united in marriage to Lars Johnson of Belmond, Iowa. They lived a few years in Iowa but most of her adult life was spent in the Clarkfield, Minnesota area. Survivors are her six children; Lawrence of Poulsbo, Washington, Gerald of Malvern, Arkansas, Lilian (Mrs. Harvey Larson) of Clarkfield, Evelyn (Mrs. Joe Estebo) of Hanley Falls, Minnesota; Luther of Jacksonville, Florida; and Gerhard of Kodaikanal, Tamil Nodu, South India; 28 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren; besides a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother Nels; and one sister Alice Johnson. Blessed be her memory! IN MEMORY OF MRS.
