Lawrence August Timgren was born on July 14, 1902 to parents Peter A. and Wendla (Hoggren) Timgren in Underwood Township, Redwood County, Minnesota. He was baptized at the Presbyterian Church in Vesta, Minnesota, and as a young man confirmed by Pastor Madland at Christ Lutheran of Cottonwood, Minnesota. Lawrence attended Country School District #66 in Underwood Township. In 1922 he started farming with his brother, Wallace, in Redwood County. In 1924 they moved northwest of Cottonwood and also were engaged in farming. Lawrence married Betsy (Betty) Peterson of Cottonwood on April 10, 1931. They were married at the church parsonage in Cottonwood, Minnesota. To this union four children were born: Lynn, Darlene, DeAnn, and Julie. In 1942, Lawrence and Betty moved to Hanley Falls and farmed until 1979 when they bought a home in Granite Falls, Minnesota. Lawrence and Betty moved to the Clarkfield Care Center in August 1993. They were married for 63 years. Lawrence served on the school board for 14 years and also served on the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church Council. Lawrence passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 1994 at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital at the age of 91 years. He is survived by his wife Betty of the Clarkfield Care Center and his children: Lynn (wife Ginger) of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Darlene (husband Jim) Eye of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, DeAnn (husband Don) Peterson of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Julie (husband Jim) Bevan of Carmel, Indiana. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and brother, Glenn Timgren of Lake Lillian, Minnesota. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Wendla Timgren, and sisters: Agnes Tague, Esther Christensen, Edith Roland, and Ruth Lewis and brothers Wallace and Harold.
