Lawrence Millard Orres was born on September 30, 1914, on a farm south of Clarkfield to Oliver and Mary (Severts) Orres. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. On December 26, 1940, he married Harriet Alvina Hansen. They had one daughter Andrea. He joined the Army in January 1941 and served in World War II in the European Theatre. At the end of the war, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Technical Sargeant. He made his home with his family in Clarkfield where he was school bus mechanic and driver and then Building Superintendent at the Clarkfield Public School. After 30 years he retired. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and belonged to a Horseshoe League for several years. In his retirement years he enjoyed helping his friends, family and neighbors whenever help was needed. He was a member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post #169, the V.F.W. and the D.A.V. Larry died Sunday May 5, 1991, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital from cancer at the age of 76 years. Larry is survived by his wife, Harriet of Clarkfield; daughter, Andrea; two grandchildren, Corey and Ghillian Grantham of Bloomington, Minnesota; two sisters, Berenice Orres and Inez Berg of Clarkfield; one brother Raymond of Edgerton, Minnesota; and numerous neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother George and sister Evelyn Orres Allison.
