Laurence F. Sharkey, 80, of Brookside Manor, Montevideo, Minnesota, formerly of the Clarkfield, Minnesota area, died Monday, April 14, 1986. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on April 17, 1986, from the United Methodist Church of Clarkfield with Pastor Wayne Shelton and Pastor Harris Halstead officiating. Organist was Mrs. Bernice Forsberg with vocal music by Virginia Hagg. Casket Bearers were grandchildren and their spouses, Michael Sharkey, David and Roxanne Sharkey, Lance Sharkey, Farah Sharkey, Greg and Mary Birhanzl, Ron and Karin Koenen, Karla Birhanzl, Gina Woratschka, and Gary Woratschka. Final Resting Place is the Clarkfield City Cemetery, Clarkfield, Minnesota. He was born August 21, 1905, to Hugh and Mattie Sharkey. He attended school and graduated from Lake City, Iowa. He married lola Pierce at the Little Brown Church in the Vale. They farmed in Iowa then moved to Clarkfield, where they farmed until retirement. Laurence was active in numerous church and community activities including Brown Swiss Assoc., 4-H and I.O.O.F. He was preceed in death by his wife, parents, and two brothers. Surviving him are three children, Larry Sharkey of Raymond, Minnesota, Mrs. Lowell (Vada) Birhanzl of Montevideo, Minnesota, and Linda Woratschka of Idaho Falls, Idaho; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and three sisters.
