IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Laurel Maye
(Wilson) Lukken
December 1, 1952 – April 28, 2025
Laurel Maye (Wilson) Lukken was born in Clarkfield, MN, on December 1, 1952, to parents, Donald and Clarice (Olson) Wilson. She attended public school in Hazel Run and then in Clarkfield, graduating in the class of 1970. Laurel continued her education by attending Nursing School at the University of Minnesota before returning to the area and working at the Granite Falls Hospital.
Laurel was united in marriage to David Lukken on February 14, 1976, at the Hazel Run Lutheran Church. Together they had two sons, Nathan and Nicholas. Laurel spent several years at home raising the boys and helping David with farming. As the boys grew older, she returned to her nursing career, working at the Clarkfield Care Center until her retirement in 2016. Her husband, David, passed away in 2017.
Laurel enjoyed gardening and had a love for horses and cats. She loved playing cards, especially pinochle, but her greatest enjoyment in life was her grandchildren.
Laurel passed away at the age of 72 on Monday, April 28th, 2025, with family by her side at CCM Health in Montevideo after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her sons, Nathan (Jessica Eagleson) of Fergus Falls and Nick (Amy) Lukken of Boyd; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Collin Lukken of Underwood, Keegan (Skylar) Martin of Dawson, and Jayden Lukken of Boyd; great-grandchildren, Motley and Mari Martin; brother, Clair (Linda) Wilson, and numerous extended family and friends.
Laurel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; in-laws, Donald and Alyce Lukken, and sister, Janet Westre.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 5th, 2025, at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd, with visitation at 10 AM. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Clarkfield First Responders.
