Laura Amanda Eye was born near Echo, Minnesota on September 25, 1909 to parents Bert and Bia (Slettedahl) Eye. She was baptized at the Rock Valle Lutheran Church near Echo and confirmed at Israel Lutheran Church of Swede Prairie Township, Minnesota. In 1915 Laura moved with her family to a farm near Clarkfield. She attended Country School District # 104. Laura enjoyed gardening and flowers. She also enjoyed doing embroidery work and crocheting, especially large items as quilts and bedspreads. She was a member of Israel Lutheran Church. Laura entered the Clarkfield Care Center in 1983 and has been a resident since that time. She passed away Saturday morning, October 25, 1997 at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 88 years and 1 month. She is survived by her sister Olga of the Clarkfield Care Center and brother Bennie (and Eleanor) Eye of Clarion, Iowa and several nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Alfred, Lewis, and Orbin; sister Anna; and nephew Burton Eye.
