Lars G. Olson, son of Gaute and Enger Olson, was born June 3, 1877, in Norway. At the age of four years he came with his parents to Winnebago County, Iowa, where he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In 1911 he married Serine Louise Martinson. To this union ten children were born, all of whom survive: Glen of Northwood, Opal (Mrs. A. Weberg) of Lake Mills, Iowa, Lawrence of Montevideo, Minnesota, Walter of Cottonwood, Minnesota, Edith (Mrs. Byron Ruud) of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Vernon and Milford of Clarkfield, Lila (Mrs. Herb Mauland) of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, Marion (Mrs. Delmar Varpness) and Ordell of Clarkfield. Lars moved with his family from Winnebago, to a farm in Swede Prairie in 1919, where he farmed until recent years. He was a member of Israel Church since coming to the Clarkfield Community. Death came following a stroke, November 19, 1949, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, aged 72 years, five months and fifteen days. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, one sister, Mrs. Charlie Anderson, and four brothers. Surviving in addition to his ten children are 15 grandchildren; two sisters; one brother, Ole, of Chula Vista, California; and numerous other relatives and friends.
