Lance Youngmark Gehant was born April 8, 1949, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, the son of Ward B. and Barbara (Youngmark) Gehant. He was baptized on Sunday, May 1, 1949, at Clarkfield Lutheran Church by Rev. J.E.H. Akre. Lance was an invalid all of his short life. In January, 1955, he moved with his parents to Santa Barbara, California, to enter a highly recommended home for retarded children but received no help. From then on he lived at home under the loving care of his parents. On Saturday, November 3, 1962, he became very ill and was rushed to the hospital and his doctor, but to no avail. He is in the arms of a loving heavenly Father. He leaves to mourn his parents, Ward B. and Barbara Gehant, a brother, Bruce and sister, Dana, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George M. Gehant and Mrs. Alma Youngmark of LaVerne, California.
