Knute Glaim was born November 17, 1856, the son of Hellick and Gurina Glaim, in Fillmore County, Minnesota. Mr. Glaim settled on the Yellow Medicine River southwest of Hanley Falls, back with the very first wave of immigrants coming into the area in 1866. He marrried Bergot Norgaard January 27, 1877. They lived for a time on a claim in Swede Prairie Township and in 1904 moved back to his father's claim on the Yellow Medicine River. The first home of the Glaims was a combined cave and log cabin, about 12x16 feet, the logs having been cut and hauled from the Yellow Medicine River. In excellent health all of his life, he failed quickly the last few weeks before his death and slipped quietly away into his eternal rest Friday, November 3, 1950, at his home in Sandnes Township, Yellow Medicine County. Mr. Glaim was preceded in death by his wife in 1901; one son, Hellick in 1948; and one daughter, Clara Stenerson in 1946. Survivors include three daughters: Hilda Strang, Anna Kieferle and Mamie Glaim.
