Mrs. Kjarsti Jorgenson was born in Telemarken, Norway, September 12, 1862. She came to America with her parents, Ole and Anne Foss in the late 1870s. In 1891 she was united in marriage to Thor Jorgenson of Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Six children were born to this union, but she was left alone to rear them on December 31, 1907, when Thor passed away. The couple resided on the farm in Sandnes Township from the time of their marriage until the spring of 1915 when she and her children moved to the present home near Hazel Run, where she and her son, Anton, have lived ever since. Mrs. Jorgenson passed away March 21, 1958, at her Friendship Township home, at the age of 95 years. Surviving are her six children, namely, John of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Anton, Melvin and Clara (Mrs. Lloyd Ecklund) of Hazel Run, Mrs. Anna Appleseth of Clarkfield, and Thora (Mrs. John Faaberg) of Dawson, Minnesota; sixteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Foss of Havre, Montana, and Emma (Mrs. John Vaala) of Dawson, Minnesota.
