Kermit Theodore Leppke was born November 30, 1927 in Maxwell Township, Yellow Medicine County to Fred H. and Alma (Bonn) Leppke. Kermit grew up in the area where he was born. He attended St. John's Parochial, Rural District 44, and Clarkfield Public School, He was a lifetime member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Omro Township, being confirmed there in 1941. Kermit farmed with his brothers until he was called into the U.S. Army in November of 1950. He served in Korea, receiving Korean Service Medal with Three Bronze Stars and Unit Nation Service Medal, He was honorably discharged in November of 1952. After returning home, he continued to farm with his brothers. In 1959 he moved to the Wahpeton, ND area where he continued to farm. In 1976 he started working for Minn-Dakota Cooperative (Sugar Beet Plant), in Wahpeton. In 1992 he entered St. Francis Home in Breckenridge, MN. This was his home until the time of his death. At the time of his death, he was spending a few days with his family in the Boyd area. He passed away March 4, 1997 at the home of his brother Ervin of Boyd at the age of 69 years, 3 months, and 4 days. Kermit never married. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and tinkering with cars and machinery. He is survived by brothers Ervin, twin Brother Curtis (and Gladys) and nephew Randall of the Boyd area and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wilfred and one who died in infancy.
