Kenneth B. Thompson, 65, of rural Cottonwood, Minnesota, died Thursday, December 12, 1985, at the Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall, Minnesota, following a heart attack at his home. Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 16, 1985, at St. Lucas Lutheran Church of Normania Township with Pastor John Christiansen officiating. Final Resting Place is St. Lucas Lutheran Cemetery, Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was born April 3, 1920 to Knute and Bettie (Peterson) Thompson of Westerheim Township, Lyon County, Minnesota. Kenneth was baptized and confirmed by Rev. H.J. Madland at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. On December 8, 1950, he married Helen Welu at Marshall. Kenneth was a heavy equipment contractor all his life and also helped his son Kerry with farming. He was a life-long member of St. Lucas Lutheran Church, serving six years as a member of the board of trustees. He was a member of the Cottonwood Golf Club and Eagles Club of Marshall. He enjoyed restoring antique and steam-powered machinery. Pastor Christiansen and Henry Broughton sang vocal solos with Connie Pehrson as the organist. Honorary Casketbearers were Arvid Bjornebo, Odin Broughton, Erling Kompelien, Raymond Kompelien, Bert Mauland, Willard Peterson and Alan Swennes. Active Casket Bearers were Larry Neuman, Leroy Neuman, Dale Peterson, Jim Peterson, Douglas Thompson and Ross Thompson. He is survived by his wife Helen; son Kerry; daughter Becky; mother Bettie; and brother Ervin of Cottonwood. Also surviving are daugher-in-law, Mary; son-in-law, Steve Olmstead; and five grandchildren, Laura, Kyle, Jennifer and Tami Thompson and Michael Olmstead.
