Keith Edward Williams was born October 23, 1930, at Worthington, Minnesota, to J. Roger and Mabel Williams. He attended schools in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and Westbrook, Minnesota, where he graduated in 1948. He played football, basketball and baseball in school. Keith served four years in the U.S. Navy, being discharged in 1955. In 1956 he married Betty Hoffmann in Rochester, Minnesota. To this union were born four children: Kevin, who died at the age of 21 years after serving four years in the U.S. Air Force; Dean, who also served in the U.S. Air Force for six years, lives in Boyd, Minnesota, with his wife, Marrian and their two daughters, Naomi and Ruth, Vonda is married to Randy Reed of Flandreau, South Dakota, and they have two children, Ryan and Nicole, and Jonell who is married to Craig Hermanson of Boyd with their three daughters, Bobbi Jo, Katie and Elizabeth. Keith taught school for nine years in Alton, Iowa, and Moline, Ilinois, before taking a position at the First State Bank of Okabena, Minnesota, in 1967. He moved to Boyd, Minnesota, in 1980 and worked at the State Bank of Boyd until 1984. He then started an insurance agency in Boyd and also worked as a farm advocate. Keith served as a member of the Okabena School Board, Sievert-Peterson American Legion Post #608 of Okabena, Strand-Saboe V.F.W. Post #5247 of Dawson, Minnesota, and the Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star of Lakefield, Minnesota. He served on county boards and was the mayor of Boyd at the time of his death. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping, golf, doing woodwork, playing cards and watching sports. He loved having his grandchildren around. Keith became ill in 1988 and spent many weeks in the V.A. Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He passed away at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo, Minnesota, on Saturday, October 6, 1990, at the age of 59. Keith is survived by his wife; three children; seven grandchildren; his father, J. Roger Williams of Madelia, Minnesota; two brothers, Jack and wife, Cleona of Coal City, Illinois, and Dale and wife, Sharon of Madelia; 47 nieces and nephews. Preceding Keith in death were his son, Kevin; his mother, Mabel; and his grandparents.
